Caroline, Beth and Eddie (Edith Ann) are the Malloys. Jake, Josh(twins), Wally and Peter are the Hatfords. They don't like each other at all. At school their teachers tell them that their will be a strawberry festival as their tradition. Whoever raises $20.00 will either get to eat all the strawberry treats they can eat or they get to ride on of the one of the floats. Caroline wants to either be the strawberry queen or be on the float with the strawberry queen. Peter wants to eat all of the strawberry treats that he can eat. The others don't know what choice they will make yet. To earn the money Josh decides he's going to sell some of his paintings. Caroline is going to act out fairy tales. These are just a few of the things they are going to do to earn money. It isn't going so well. So they decide to get together and wash cars for $4.00 each car.
